TO DO & SEE
While all the Costa Blanca area is very nice and worth visiting, Altea is a very special place. Romantic, rustic, authentic and cute. During October, the place is amazing, no crowds, less tourists, great weather for both beach and walks.
Altea Old Town
We recommend you visit Altea’s Old Town. Park the car somewhere near and discover the place by foot. Here you’ll find lots of restaurants, ice-cream places, cafés and amazing shops with traditional stuff. Altea Old Town, an idyllic place for photos, evening walks and people-watching.
Tips: visit Altea Old Town both daytime and evenings, we guarantee it’s a whole different world by night.
Calpe
A 16 minutes away ride to one of the beautiful villages in Costa Blanca. Beautiful sand beaches, cute old town, a favourite among visitors.
La Nucia
During our planning trip, we discover this little town north of Altea called La Nucia, where we had a tasting in a great restaurant, El Xato. Take a day trip to La Nucia and surroundings by car, stop and admire the fabulous views over the hills.

La Zenia Boulevard
If you have a car and want to go shop in Spain’s second largest outdoor mall, go to La Zenia area – La Zenia Boulevard. That’s where we have our vacation family home and return to every year, so we know the place very well. Ask us for any info you want to know about the place. Lots of entertainment for families with kids.
1:20 min from Altea by car, if you drive through Elche.
1:35 min if you drive through Torrevieja.
Las Salinas de Torrevieja – the pink lake of Torrevieja
Torrevieja Pink Lake also known as Laguna Salada de Torrevieja or Laguna Rosa de Torrevieja is one the rare lagoons that have this coloration. In addition to the beneficial effects that the high salinity of the water can have, the black muds that are in the vicinity of the lake are also a great attraction due to its therapeutic properties.
The pink lake is 1h25 min from Altea by car and it’s on the way to La Zenia (15 min in between the two).
Benidorm
We personally haven’t been there yet, but people call Benidorm as Disneyland for adults. However, we know families with kids who have been taking day trips there too. Benidorm is known for entertainment, pubs, a huge water park (good activity for kids) and the giant skyscrapers you can see all the way from the highway when you arrive to Altea from the Alicante airport. Keep this in mind when you travel 🙂 Benidorm is 15 minutes away by car from Altea.

Not much to say here than: If you have time and car, go visit it. Great shopping, great restaurants, great walks.
